Chris Martin is opening up about his “conscious uncoupling” from ex Gwyneth Paltrow after 10 years of marriage in 2014 in the new documentary Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams.
In very GP fashion, the word divorce wasn’t used when the pair announced their split, but Chris is sharing in the new doc that the split wasn’t as seamless as it seemed for him.
The Coldplay frontman shared that he felt “completely worthless” and that he was “nothing to anybody,” after the breakup:
“I was just like, ‘I’m a mess,’ really, because I can’t enjoy the great things around me. Then, of course, I went through a breakup with Gwyneth. Listen, I’m never going to moan, I’m grateful for everything, but it was pretty touch and go.”
Chris’ manager Phil Harvey was equally as candid about his concern for his client:
“I was worried about him to the extent that I was just really glad to get a text in the morning just to know he was OK.”
The singer seems to be doing just fine now, recently getting matching infinity symbol tats with girlfriend Dakota Johnson, but it was definitely interesting timing for this truth bomb right after Gwyneth’s recent wedding…
