A source close to the situation offers an update on how the 26-year-old is reportedly feeling now, and what pushed Selena to finally seek treatment.

The insider tells People

“She has had a tough few weeks and the panic attack in the hospital was the tipping point. She realized she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues. She’s surrounded by close family and has a lot of support. She’s doing better now and is seeking treatment on the East Coast.”

The source shared that the singer is reportedly undergoing dialectical behavior therapy, a method designed to help try to identify, and then change, negative thinking and behavioral patterns.

We can now understand a bit more why Sel decided to take a little break from social media back in September.

Gomez’s last post expressed her tricky relationship with the platform and that she’d be taking another brief hiatus because “negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings”:

We’re hoping Sel continues to get better, and we will keep you all updated as we learn more.
